Found this tiny beetle yesterday in a bucket of water. It caught my eye because it had something like a transparent shell on top of that gold coloured body.
Upon googling it, I found out that it can change colours – from gold to red! Sadly though, this one was already dead…
That’s how it should look like.

I've never seen anything like that before. On the top photo (while the insect was still floating on water?), it looks like a stuffed baby doll... surrounded by a rim of agar-agar.
It was really tiny - about 7mm long.
