It’s been 2 years now since I own my camera… & since I last posted a post like this one, many things have happened. :)

44th

Today, we are celebrating the 44th Independence day of Mauritius – 44 years have passed since we got independence from Britain and 20 years since we are a Republic. On the media, Facebook and Twitter, you’ll see everyone wishing themselves a happy Independence day or stating that they are proud to be Mauritian… should we really be proud?

Montagne des Signaux

Le Morne de la Découverte, now known as Signal Mountain or Montagne des Signaux, stands at 323m (1058 ft) above Port Louis. It got its name from the French era signal-post built on the summit to guide the ships in harbour and which has now been replaced by an antenna farm.

Of all Mauritian mountains, Signal Mountain is the easiest to climb. Mainly, because it has a tarred road that goes up to the summit, which can be done on foot or in a vehicle.

So, how easy can it be?

Maha Shivratri 2012

After accomplishing the pilgrimage to Ganga Talao, it is now time to celebrate the great night of Shiva at the temple, the Maheswarnath Mandir in Triolet.

Ganga Talao 2012

The annual pilgrimage to Ganga Talao (Grand Bassin) for the festival of Maha Shivratri. The weather conditions were exactly the same as last year, so the photos look very similar.

Most of the following photos are the original ones taken by my first camera - the much-maligned HP 635 - while I was in my final year at RCPL.
